Russia’s Rosneft not prohibited from buying stake in Bashneft
MOSCOW, Jul 21 (PRIME) -- Russian state-run oil major Rosneft has not been prohibited from buying a stake in another oil company Bashneft and is still considering taking part in its privatization, a representative of Rosneft told PRIME on Thursday.
“We are still considering terms of participation in privatization of Bashneft now. We will follow any instructions of the controlling shareholder, Rosneft has not been prohibited from participation in privatization of the oil company,” the person said.
Earlier in the day, RBC reported citing sources that Russian state-run companies had been prohibited from participation in privatization of Bashneft.
Russian companies, which may be privatized in 2016, include Rosneft, Bashneft, the country’s second-largest lender VTB Bank and shipping company Sovcomflot.
Earlier in July, the government sold 10.9% in state-run diamond mining giant ALROSA to private investors for 52.181 billion rubles on the Moscow Exchange.
